FROM THE FOUNDER - WHY I BUILT AM RADIO PILATES - A PREMIER CLASSICAL PILATES STUDIO IN AUSTIN

Austin doesn't need another Pilates studio. Seven "Pilates" inspired studio have opened it's doors within 3/4 of a mile from AM RADIO since we opened in 2024. SEVEN!

The goal wasn't to create another fitness concept, another trend-driven workout, or another room filled with rows of identical machines from Balanced Body or mega-former brands.

The goal was to create the studio I couldn't find!

A studio built around authenticity.

A studio built around craftsmanship.

A studio with apparatus NO ONE in the U.S.A has in their studios (Not just Austin.)

A studio built around the belief that Pilates is a method, not a marketing term.

For more than 30 years, I've dedicated my life to movement, design, education, and understanding what makes things exceptional. Long before opening a studio, I spent years in the fashion world (alongside teaching Pilates) developing an appreciation for craftsmanship, detail, and timelessness. That same philosophy eventually became the foundation of everything we do at AM RADIO Pilates.

While much of the industry moved toward trends, we moved deeper into the method.

While others simplified Pilates into a single piece of equipment, we invested in a complete system of authentic apparatus.

While others focused on volume, we focused on education.

Today, AM RADIO Pilates is home to one of Austin's most comprehensive collections of Authentic Classical Pilates apparatus, including Reformers, Towers, Chairs, and additional equipment designed to teach the method as an integrated system.

It's also home to the Authentic Method University (A.M.U.) teacher training program, where the next generation of instructors learns that Pilates is far more than choreography or fitness trends. It is a discipline, a craft, and a lifelong practice.

Every detail inside the studio reflects that philosophy.

As the industry has evolved, I have watched Pilates become increasingly disconnected from its roots. Studios began reducing an entire method to a single machine. Marketing became more important than education. Trends became more important than principles.

My perspective comes from a rare place.

I am the only instructor in Austin to have studied directly with Romana Kryzanowska, the woman personally chosen by Joseph Pilates to continue teaching and preserving his method after his death. Often referred to as the heir to the Pilates legacy, Romana spent decades ensuring that the original system, principles, and apparatus remained intact for future generations.

Learning directly from Romana wasn't simply an education in exercises. It was an education in the philosophy, standards, discipline, and integrity behind the method itself.

That experience shaped everything I believe about Pilates today.

I believed Austin deserved access to that level of authenticity.

So again... I built the studio I couldn't find.

AM RADIO Pilates exists for people looking for something deeper.

People who understand that timeless things rarely need to be reinvented.

In a city filled with options, we've chosen not to follow trends.

We've chosen to preserve a method.

And that's what continues to set AM RADIO'S classical Pilates apart.

Listen to Your Body.
